The Shepard's Tree has three stems coming up out of the ground. Two of the stems have joined each other, forming an eye of a needle, and the 3rd stem has grown through the eye, forming the thread, thus wonderfully creating a needle and thread effect. Discovered as early as 1906 when they made the road between Willowmore and Aberdeen, this "Wonderboom" only received more attention, and was acknowledged as a wonder of nature in 1961, when they tarred the road. It is situated ± 10km outside Willowmore on the N9 towards Aberdeen.
